ARTIST STATEMENT
Through blind contour drawings, I reflect upon my relationships with friends, family, and my past. These renderings are based on photographs that were intended for entertainment, intimacy and for the eyes of close friends and family. My goal is not to perfectly portray the past but rather explore the emotional aura of a fading memory; a flashback. Drawing blindly on the paper allows me to focus on reminiscing, creating a scene of loose, bittersweet familiarity. Simultaneously, my process of drawing depicts the struggle to retain or alter the past while providing a distraction from my current and future emotional states.
